Avoid Travel Breakouts By Doing These 3 Things

If you’re anything like me traveling wreaks havoc up your body. After a long flight, my just-washed hair magically grows greasy, my tummy is painfully bloated, and my skin is breaking out in places it never has before.

Is it a crime to want to look good for my travel shots on the gram? In my vain mission to avoid the typical travel acne, circulated air-induced dry skin, and irritation I spoke with aesthetic doctors who shared the below three step approach to flawless skin.

before the flight:

Prep your skin with a gentle exfoliation before you leave home preferably the night before you fly. Typically skin tends to appear drier with dull, dead cells left sitting on the surface so lightly scrubbing these off gives you a fresh canvas and instant glow. Follow this up with a simple moisturizer to lock in hydration before you start your journey.

in the air:

Avoid wearing makeup, drink plenty of fluids, and skip the fun unhealthy choices like high salt content airport food to avoid bloating. If you are taking the window seat and taking advantage of the view make sure you wear SPF since you’re that much closer to the sun on the plane.

straight after:

Usually we are not moving around for hours while flying. Try to squeeze in a mini movement or sweat session if you can, when you land to get the blood flowing and sweat toxins out of the system. This could be a brisk jog around the block to get yourself acquainted, a trip to the sauna if you’re staying somewhere bougie, or some jumping jacks in your room. Bonus tip if you’re a nervous flier like me, this helps drain some of the nervous energy lurking in your system! Follow this up with a pore cleansing shower and a hydration mask or moisturizer to replenish skin.
